Spring is just around the corner (we promise) but there is a nip in the air and frost on the ground which makes March seem a long way off.It isn't just our skin and nails that take a battering at this time of year, it's also our hair.

Our hair is as exposed to the elements as our skin and on top of that we constantly use a heat source (hairdryers, straighteners etc.) to tame it. All of this can cause chaos on our hair; take a look at our top tips on how to manage your hair during the winter months.

Keep your hair protected in the heat. As well as the central heating you will also be using hairdryers, straighteners and curling wands etc. so it's important to use the right products to protect your hair. Start with a leave in conditioner such as Milkshake's Incredible Milk followed with a heat protection spray. We love Cloud 9's Magical Quick Dry Potion for this. It includes a heat protectant, leave in conditioner with a UV filter. These are available to order at Venus.

Give your hair some added TLC. Once a week apply a Milkshake hair mask. Our favourites include the Integrity hair mask and the Active Milk mask. The Active Milk mask restructures and restores dry and damaged hair.

What shampoo and conditioner do you use? Your shampoo/conditioner duo may not be the best for your hair all year round. For example, you might suffer with a dry scalp in winter. To help fight this common problem look no further than Milkshake's Sensorial Mint range. It gentle cleanses the hair while refreshing the scalp. Perfect to see you through the cold spell.
