JOHN'S CHARITY WAX

All in the name of charity

John gets the smoothest legs in Tavistock all for The Mary Budding Trust.

Every year we pick a charity to support for the year and raise funds along the way. Whenever clients come in for a fringe trim or nail repair we ask for a donation for our charity. As well as this, John also signed himself up to do something for the charity at the beginning of the year (but more on that later).

Our 2016 charity is The Mary Budding Trust. Dr Mary Budding first came to Tavistock in the 1950s and was instrumental in improving the medical care of babies and their mothers in West Devon. Since then the legacy of her care for the community and children with special needs has continued.

The Mary Budding Trust was established in 2002 to provide support to children outside of The Mary Budding Centre. It supports children with special needs aged 11 and under living in the area serviced by the West Devon Borough Council or in the vicinity of Tavistock. They do this by providing grants and equipment.

The Trust is run by a board of trustees- all of which volunteer! Their time and effort to raise funds and deliver help is invaluable and we have loved the small part we've been able to play throughout the year. We may be on the home stretch but we know we can still raise some more!

So, back to the story of John and how he managed to walk away with the smoothest legs and underarms in Tavistock.

At the start of the year he decided to grow his hair for charity and if he failed he would forego a punishment made by the ladies at the salon...all in the name of charity of course.

The hair growing lasted around 2 weeks and so the planning was on for the rest of the salon; the answer? WAXING!

After months of waiting the date was set; Saturday 15th October at 2pm. We had a fantastic turn out and so many donations from our lovely clients.

We'd like to thank you all for your donations for John's waxing and for those who were able to make it on the day, we hope you had a giggle for a good cause.

The collection will run right up until the Christmas break with the donation being presented to The Mary Budding Trust in the new year.
